common questions & answers

  • What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a self-healing practice. The type of breathwork I practice and facilitate is a two-part Pranayama breath, learned from David Elliott. It is an active meditation intended to pull you out of your head, and put you into your heart.

  • What do I bring to a session?

Besides yourself and a curiosity, there is very little you need to bring. It is recommended you wear comfy clothes. If your session is virtual you’ll want to be in a quiet, private space with a blanket and pillow nearby. If you’re in-person I’ll provide those items.

  • What happens in a session?

Sessions are tailored to individuals, couples, and groups. However, there is a consistent structure including an initial check-in discussion, the 20-30 minute active breathing meditation, and a grounding to close the ceremony. There can be an opportunity for shared reflection.

  • What happens after a session?

Immediately after a session you can feel lighter and open-hearted. Physically you might be tired, hungry, and have tingling in your extremities. Journaling afterwards can help you process the feelings, emotions, or physical sensations that came up in your session.

  • What are the benefits to breathwork?

Each person will experience their own benefits of this medicine. Many people report: improved energy levels, a decrease in anxiety and depression, a deepened spiritual connection, enhanced mental clarity, elimination of limiting beliefs or behaviors, a release of strong emotions like grief or anger, and an awakened self-love.

  • How soon will I feel the benefits?

It is common to experience the deep-rooted benefits of breathwork after only one session. However, this healing modality is a practice. It is most beneficial when you continue to work with your breath - whether that is daily, weekly, or monthly. Each time you show up you will further heal and learn about yourself.

  • Do you use any tools in sessions?

Rest easy, breathwork is a noninvasive healing modality. In virtual sessions I will support you with a curated playlist and the occasional soft-voiced prompt. In person I might burn plant allies, apply high-grade essential oils, and (if consented) offer gentle supporting touch.

  • Do you offer any in-person sessions?

Right now all 1:1 sessions are held virtually, but opportunities for in-person 1:1 healing will be available to Central Oregon residents soon. If you are interested in reserving in-person sessions, please contact me. Healing groups are held both online and in-person.
